Culture and Services
Culture & Services
Cultural and Service activities have always been part of the balanced make-up of learners at Newcastle High School. Our school is known for individual learners’ participation in activities spanning the entire spectrum of culture, service and sport.
We encourage our learners to participate in the wide range of cultural and service events on offer. This extra curriculum programme at Newcastle High is diverse to cater for the variety of interests of our learners. Cultural and Service activities are structured to augment both individual and team performances. The educational value of personal development through involvement in cultural and service activities is far more important than the number of awards obtained at the end of the day.

- Blood Bank
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) issues over one million blood components annually.
Blood donor recruitment in South Africa is based on a World Health Organisation endorsed programme, which specifies the selection of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors.
Low-risk blood donors are identified as volunteer blood donors who donate blood solely to help those in dire need of blood. Securing and maintaining a safe blood supply in a country with one of the highest HIV infection rates in the world is a constant challenge to the SANBS.
The Community Outreach Program gives students the opportunity to get involved in community service on a regular basis, with projects to choose from almost daily. Projects are student-led and are offered at a variety of nonprofit agencies.
First aid is the assistance given to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and/or promote recovery.

Thank you to each and every pupil who participated; Danielle Draping for the beautiful set-up of the hall and foyer and to Kobus Odendaal for the sound and lighting. Mr. Simon Bester, thank you for all the preparation and planning of this successful event.
congratulations on the NHS choir achieving gold, and being placed 5th overall, at the recent ATKV Applous finals in Stellenbosch. We are proud of every single member. Well done!!
