Newcastle High School awarded its up-and-coming sports stars with an evening reserved just for them on 15 October 2019.

The Sports Prizegiving Event is held towards the end of the school year and honours those learners who excelled in their different sports. The categories this year were varied and included chess, hockey, golf, volleyball, soccer, etc. Learners were jubilant about getting recognition and there was an amazing spirit of camaraderie and respect that settled upon the evening.

The school was privileged to have Xolani Luvuno grace the event. Xolani inspired the audience with his life story, struggles and never-back-down speech. “We will take great lessons from Xolani’s words of wisdom,” said Tene Louw, who was a recipient that evening.

“Newcastle High School gives us great opportunities,” said Olwethu Dlungwana, also a recipient. “I am thankful for my teachers and coaches who help us every day to achieve the things we dream of.”
