During term two and three Newcastle High School had a readathon where grade 8 to 11 learners raised a total of R7420. Being a reading club we had decided to donate books to two institutions. On Friday the 11/10/2019, the principal, Mr M. Govender together with two educators, Mrs N. Redy and Mrs S.Singh and 14 learners from Newcastle High School visited the Sathya Sai School and Home Meah where we spent time with the kids, reading and interacting with them. Little goodie bags were gifted to the kids as well as books and a cash donation. Newcastle High School and the reading club would like to thank the learners who have supported this initiative as well as Mr Govender for giving our club this opportunity and accompanying us on the day. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Mrs S. Maharaj from the Sathya Sai School and Mrs Susan Theunissen from Home Meah for their warm welcome and for affording us the opportunity to spend time with the kids.
