NHS Takes Home Gold at Expo 2019 (2)

Learners across Grades 8 to 12 proudly represented Newcastle High School at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists 2019. There were strong contenders with great ambition and fantastic ideas at the event. The learners had been preparing for the event with great earnestness and enthusiasm. The NHS learners were warmly supported by their educators who motivated them through all their preparations. Warm congratulations went out to Kayle Laloo and Shaylyn Dippen from Grade 12 who showcased their project titled “A Novel Approach to Store Energy.” The project was based on solving the problem of discarded cigarette filters. The two budding geniuses sought to utilise the cigarette filters to store energy by having them act as supercapacitors.
